Kushal Punjabi wins Rs. 5 millions Zor Ka Jhatka

The Imagine TV’s reality show hosted by actor Shahrukh Khan had its grand finale on Friday (February 25). It was a tough fight between the final 16 finale contestants. But, the man who walked away with the big amount of Rs 5 million is none other than the most consistent performer on the show, actor Kushal Punjabi.

Television actor Kushal, who also acted in films like Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal and Salaam-E-Ishq won the show after fighting it out with the final four contestants, who reached to the final round. The
finalists Claudia Ciesla, Kushal Punjabi, Captain Albert and Jai Bhagwan made it to the deciding round of the "Wipeout Zone", where Kushal emerged as the winner of 'Zor Ka Jhatka'.

There were two special guests for the evening, Bollywood queen Rani Mukherjee and reality queen Dolly Bindra. Apart from the main 'Zor Ka Jhatka' awards, there were other humorous awards categories like "Ram Lal Foundation Award" for Manoranjan award, which was given to Priyadarshani Singh, 'Running Commentary', which was given to Sonika Kaliraman, and the 'Haste Zakhm' to Dimpy Mahajan.

'Zor Ka Jhatka' was an Indian version of internationally popular 'Wipeout'. The main backdrop of this adventurous game was set in Argentina, with 28 celebrity contestants, fighting it out to win the water challenges given to them. Apart from Shahrukh, Actress Saumya Tandon was also the on-spot host of 'Zor Ka Jhatka'.

We at Oneindia congratulate the winner Kushal for his achievement.

Shahrukh Khan: Can he be blamed for ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’ fiasco?

Though some of you readers are staunch Shahrukh Khan fans and support him through thick and thin, even you would agree that his latest TV show ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’ has backfired at him and he, himself, has received the biggest ‘Jhatka’ of his life.

This has been one of the floppest ventures of SRK’s career and the low TRPs are evidence enough to suggest that his dominance in films hasn’t rubbed on to the TV world. The show ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’ went on air on 1st February, 2011 riding on huge hype and expectations.

Based on the international show ‘WipeOut’, it is a game show where the contestants (small-time celebs) battle it out for the prize money. It is aired on NDTV Imagine. Though the show is reminiscent of ‘Takeshi’s Castle’ of Pogo, ‘Zor Ka Jhatka’ lacks the spunk and thrill that comes with the former.

And SRK himself is on the receiving end of the flak since some critics are questioning his integrity. Apparently, he did the job half-heartedly and didn’t show his full commitment. For instance, he never flew down to Argentine to gel with the contestants but shot his portions in a local studio. His shots were attached to the Argentina shoot in a manner that it looked as if he was present on the location.

However, the end product did not turn out to be as juicy as the viewers were expecting. May be, SRK should make a thorough research before taking up a project.
