I want to work with Rani: Abhi

Abhishek Bachchan is eagerly looking forward for his film Dum Maaro Dum to hit screens.

Talking about the film in a recent interview, Abhishek said that he wants to change audiences' perception about him being a non-actor with the film. Abhishek's last release Raavan, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se and Game have been box office disasters and he wishes to set cash registers ringing with Dum Maaro Dum.

The actor also candidly talked about how favourite co-stars. He said, "Rani is the best co-star I have ever worked with. She's beautiful and is a brilliant actor." When asked if he would like to work with her again, Abhi promptly replied, "Of course, I would love to work with her."

It can be recalled that Abhishek and Rani, who have worked in films like Yuva, Bunty Aur Babli, Laga Chunri Mein Daag and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, had been linked up with each other before Abhi-Ash's marriage. There were also rumours that the two are planning to tie the knot. Though audience felt that Jr. Bachchan and the bong beauty made an awesome couple, the two refrained from working together.

However, now with Abhishek's confession, we look forward to seeing Bunty and Babli light up the screen again with their amazing chemistry.

Bollywood’s ‘Baabul’ story comes alive in Nepal

Kathmandu, March 8 – As Nepal celebrated International Women’s Day Tuesday with colourful marches and public programmes, there were indications that the winds of change were indeed blowing through the conservative Himalayan nation and traditional glass ceilings were beginning to develop cracks.

The news of a young woman’s remarriage 18 months after being widowed, made it to the front page of Nepal’s national dailies, showing how people’s attitude were changing towards widows, who were earlier regarded as ill-omened and barred from attending other people’s weddings.

The tale of Sanju Aryal’s marriage revived memories of ‘Baabul’, the path-breaking film made in 2006 by Bollywood director Ravi Chopra on the sensitive issue of remarriage of widows.

Just as in the film it was the young widow’s father-in-law who took the initiative to get her married again, it was Sanju’s in-laws who arranged a match for her after her husband, Prakash Wagle, died of blood cancer in 2009, only six months after the wedding.

‘It grieved us to see how sad and lonely she was,’ Maheshwar Wagle, uncle of Prakash, told the Nagarik daily. ‘We hope the marriage will bring her happiness.’

As both Prakash’s parents her dead, his uncle and aunt and the rest of the family sought a groom for Sanju and found him in Yadav Lamichhane, a young man from the same town as Sanju whom she knew from her childhood days.

On Monday, the wedding, conducted as per Hindu rituals, was held in Simra town on the Indo-Nepal border.

The bride wore red, a colour that was taboo for widows in Nepal in the past, along with ornaments.
Maheshwar, who gave her away, said he was giving her into marriage not as his daughter-in-law but as his daughter.

The daily said both Sanju and Lamichhane’s families had agreed to the marriage. Even the Hindu priest who officiated at the wedding said it was the first remarriage he had performed in 30 years and he was overjoyed.

'Rani is heading YRF'

Though unwillingly, Ranveer Singh has let the cat out of the bag. His acting skills were lauded extensively in Band Baaja Baraat but Ranveer proved to be quite an amateur at improvisation.

While shooting an episode with Anushka Sharma on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, Ranveer accidentally referred to Rani Mukerji as "MD" of Yash Raj Films while not taking her name.

Ranveer has a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films and happens to be Aditya Chopra's blue-eyed boy. Our source said, "The conversation on the show was between KJo and Anushka Sharma and Karan asked Anushka if she thought she could act better than all other actresses in the industry.

Anushka said, 'Yes, barring one.' Before she could say who, Ranveer, who had been silent, blurted out the question, 'MD?' and before anyone else, KJo said, 'Oh, let's not go that path'."

According to industry sources Rani is believed to be the one calling the shots at YRF. And if this rumour were anything to go by, Ranveer accidentally affirmed it.

Though Anushka spoke soon enough and said that she was referring to Kareena Kapoor, the damage was done.

The source added, "It is known that ever since Rani has been dating Adi, the head honcho of YRF Films, she is one of the most feared people in Yash Raj Studios.

She is believed to be one of the key decision makers in the YRF camp. Ranveer might have referred to Rani, hoping Anushka would name her and in turn impress Adi."

Whilst a lot may be lost in translation we would still give Ranveer benefit of the doubt and ask: were you referring to Madhuri Dixit by any chance?
